Parent Participation Requirements
LGSONS is run by parents! Parents share in their children’s first school experience and help Mountain School maintain is reputation as “The school in the woods where children come to play and parents come to learn.”
The ability of LGSONS to honor it’s philosophy and remain the magical place it is for our children depends upon parents’ active involvement. The key aspects of adult participation at LGPNS are described below.
Parent Participation
Be On-Site Weekly
Parents attend one entire class session per week per child enrolled. For multi-day class enrollments, see Family Partnerships.Write Observations
Parents write in-class observations of their child at play. Read about this unique piece of our school philosophy.
Parent Support and Education
Attendance is required at once monthly teacher-hosted class meetings or LGSONS-hosted parent education night classes. Totaling eight meetings annually. Exception: Parents of Saturday PM students only attend seven meetings and Monday toddler students only attend five meetings.Fundraising & Events
Participation in school fundraising activities and community outreach events. For example: distribute flyers, work event shifts, sell raffle tickets and attend fundraisers. Exception: Parents of Monday Toddler students are excused from the fundraising work shifts.Help with Maintenance
Participate in one 4-hour maintenance day annually to help keep the school facilities clean, current, and safe. Exception: Parents of Monday Toddler students, and board chairs are excused from the maintenance requirement.School service team
Parents will join a team that will support our parent board. Some of the jobs are seasonal, and some jobs are year long. Parents will get a chance to sign up for a team that best meet their skillset.
Parent Board of Directors
Parents serve the school as our Board of Directors chair and proudly perform many jobs to run our school. Some chair positions will oversee a group of service team.
